2008 Annual Report - District Ratings

State Accountability Ratings

The Texas Education Agency released its annual district and school ratings in August, 2008. Plano ISD rated “exemplary” on 18 out of 25 academic indicators, “recognized” on five indicators and “academically acceptable” on two.

Accountability ratings are based on student performance on state tests, dropout rates and high school completion rates.

Plano ISD improved in 20 out of 25 indicators for 2008, with 12 of those indicators already in the “exemplary range” where incremental improvement is most difficult. 28 campuses earned “exemplary” ratings.

National Blue Ribbon Schools

Twenty-four Plano ISD schools have captured the prestigious National Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence honor, awarded by the U.S. Department of Education.

Several Plano ISD schools have been twice honored. Most recently recognized were Wells Elementary School (2007) and Shepard Elementary School (2008).
