2. Student and Family Services Department Update

Description:
As part of the 2007-08 goals, the District has established a family services component to be woven into all aspects of existing services. A district committee has been working to oversee this plan to ensure the alignment of the following auxiliary programs with the larger initiative; Family Literacy (formerly Even Start), Practical Parent Education and the School Age Parent program. The purpose of this goal is to expand and enhance the support network we have in place for our parents and families.
Connecting parents to school and community resources will be a focus for the entire Student and Family Services Department under the direction of Cathy Galloway. It is our belief that an increase in family support will positively impact student achievement. Ms. Galloway will be presenting a report on this department at the Board Meeting.
