Description:

Competitive Sealed Proposals were solicited for this work. Four Contractors responded and their proposals were received and opened on January 18, 2007. Representatives from Facility Planning and Construction and the Architect evaluated the Proposals in accordance with the published criteria and their relative weights.

This proposal provides for kitchen and HVAC work at four locations. The work was combined into one project due to overlapping tasks and economy of scale. The Evaluation Team checked references and evaluated the proposals. Based upon the review of the proposer's qualifications and understanding of the work, the Evaluation Committee is recommending that the proposal of MDI, Inc., General Contractors be accepted. This is the lowest proposal for the Base Proposal; no alternates were proposed.

Base Proposal: $1,980,000.00
Construction Budget Estimate: $2,080,000.00

Recommendation:

The Administration recommends that the contract for construction of the Forman, Jackson, Christie, & Mendenhall Elementary Schools Kitchen & HVAC Improvements be awarded MDI General Contractors.

Business Impact:

Estimated Value: $1,980,000.00.
Budget/Financial Implication: 2004 Bond Funds.
Evaluation Criteria: Purchase Price; Quality of Goods or Services; Vendor Reputation; Best Meets the Needs of the District.
