4. Cooperative Purchase - TASB Buy Board for Library Furniture for Aldridge ES and Meadows ES

Purpose: A - Request decision - closure required

Time: No time limit

Description:

Quotes for the following projects were requested from a Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Buy Board vendor. The appropriate department has evaluated the quotes and forwarded their recommendation to Purchasing Services to be reviewed for compliance with Educational Code Section 44.031 and School Board Policy.

Staff determined that the Texas Association of School Boards, Buy Board, has an approved catalog and vendor for library furniture. The Learning Media Staff and Purchasing Staff determined that Tesco brand furniture is considered to be the District standard for Library Furniture, due to its' high quality and durability. References, quality of samples, and past usage of the Tesco Furniture indicate that Tesco offers the best long-term value.

J & S Equipment is the local vendor for Tesco Brand furniture and has been a very reliable vendor for the district for many years.

Recommendation:

The administration recommends that the purchase of library furniture for Aldridge Elementary and Meadows Elementary from J&S Equipment be approved.

Business Impact:

The proposed annual value for these projects is $119,011 from 2004 Bond Funds. The cost for Aldridge Elementary is $59,950.00 and the cost for Meadows Elementary is $59,061.00.
