16. Various Cooperative and Sole Source Pruchases

Purpose: A - Request decision - closure required

Time: No time limit

Description:

The attached spreadsheet lists several projects that Staff has determined would be best purchased through existing cooperatives thereby providing the best value for the District. The use of purchasing cooperatives is allowed by the Education Code, the Local Government Code, Chapter 791, and School Board Policy.

The Cooperative Purchasing Network (TCPN) is a state wide cooperative that has a contract for the purchase of band uniforms. Fruhauf is their awarded vendor.

The Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) BuyBoard has several contracts that the District uses on a regular basis. Virco is an awarded classroom furniture vendor and Ramtech is an awarded supplier of portable classrooms.

The Educational Purchasing Cooperative of North Texas (EPCNT) is a local cooperative of school districts located in North Texas. Frisco ISD has an awarded contract with soil express for the purchase of playground fall surface material.

The Texas Multiple Awards Schedule (TXMAS) provides members of the State of Texas Cooperative the ability to use selected Federal General Services Administration contracts. Lam and Associates is an awarded vendor for computer lab furniture.

The use of Sole Source Vendors is provided by the Education Code and School Board Policy. Each purchase listed is from a vendor that either holds a patent, copyright, or is the only source for the item being purchased.

The administration recommends the purchase of the following items using the cooperative methods listed.
