Board Agenda - May 20, 2008
17. Request for Qualifications for Professional Services
Presenter: Richard Matkin
Purpose: A - Request decision - closure required
Time: No time limit
Description:
In addition to the architects contracted for a project, the District contracts directly for other professional services. The last solicitation for professional services was at the start of the 2004 Bond Program. With the approval of the 2008 Bond Program, it is appropriate to re-evaluate the firms currently being used and to look at other interested firms.
Four separate Requests for Qualifications were advertised and notices were sent to firms who had inquired and expressed interest in the District. The categories included Civil Engineering/Survey (11 responses), Geotechnical Investigation/Materials Testing (13 responses), MEP Engineering (8 responses), and HVAC Test and Balance (1 response). The responses were received and opened on April 9 and 10, 2008.
A committee consisting of representatives from Business Services, Purchasing, and Facility Planning and Construction reviewed and evaluated the submittals for all categories. The committee recommends two firms for each category except in HVAC Test & Balance. The recommendations are listed below by category. Being included on the Recommended List does not guarantee work. The individual projects will be assigned based on a future evaluation that will consider availability and ability to perform work on a specific project.
Recommendation:
The administration recommends that the list of recommended firms for Professional Services be approved for consideration of future construction projects:
