10. Purchasing Cooperative Fees
Presenter: Richard Matkin
Purpose: A - Request decision - closure required
Time: No time limit
Description:
During the last legislative session House Bill 273 was enacted and became Chapter 44.0331 in the Education Code. The new law requires that management fees paid by the District, be reported annually to the School Board.
Purchasing cooperatives are used on a case by case basis. Purchases are analyzed to use the method that brings the best value to the District. Cooperatives meet all bidding requirements thereby giving members the ability to make purchases quickly. Pricing offered by co-ops is usually very competitive because their bids are based on the combined purchasing aggregation of its membership.
The following spreadsheet lists each of the cooperatives the District has used in the 2007-2008 School Year and the associated fees, if any, that have been paid directly to the respective cooperative.
Recommendation:
The administration recommends the use of purchasing cooperatives and the payment of related fees.
