Description:
Competitive Sealed Proposals for the following items were advertised, received, and opened by the Purchasing Services Department. The appropriate department has evaluated all proposals and forwarded their recommendation to the Purchasing Services Department to be reviewed for compliance with Education Code and School Board Policy.
Competitive Sealed Proposals were solicited for Construction Manager at Risk for Sigler Elementary School. Proposals were received on October 4, 2007 from six construction manager firms.
An Evaluation Committee consisting of representatives from Facility Planning and Construction and the Architect reviewed the submittals. Following review and discussion of the submittals, in addition to reference calls, the Evaluation Committee made its' recommendation for Starling Richardson Construction, Inc.
Summary:
The contract award at this time will commit the Pre-Construction Period Fee and will set the rate for the Construction Period Fee. Prior to committing any funds to the cost of construction, a Guaranteed Maximum Price will be presented to the Board for approval, and a contract amendment will be required.
Pre-Construction Services Fee (Lump Sum) $ 10,000.00
Construction Period Fee (% of the Cost of Construction) 3.0%
Construction Budget Estimate: $ 11,004,000.00

Recommendation:
The Administration recommends that the contract for construction of the Sigler Elementary School Renovation be awarded to Starling Richardson Construction, Inc.
