Description:
This is a compliance bid for the purchase of AV equipment for all District locations. This is the first year of a renewable bid.
Staff has reviewed this bid and recommends the acceptance of low bid on all items with the following exceptions: #4, #14, #15, #16, #19, and #23. The detailed justifications are provided for those exceptions.
Justifications:
Item #4 - Book Cart: Low alternate bids of $176.88 from Pyramid School Products, $182.00 from AVES Audio Visual, $186.95 from Quality Audio Visual and $203.44 from IT Advantage are not recommended because cart shelves are only 28" wide, not 37" as required. The low alternate bid of $195.00 from Dell Marketing is not recommended because there is no documentation on this brand item. The next low bid of $203.87 from SHI-GS is recommended.
Item #14 - Medium Cassette Recorder/Player: The low alternate bid of $38.00 from Valiant IMC is not recommended because model bid does not have 5 watt speaker as specified. The next low alternate bid of $61.00 from AVES Audio Visual is recommended.
Item #15 - Large Cassette Player/Recorder: The low alternate bid of $44.00 from Valiant IMC is not recommended due to negative reviews of performance and durability for this brand. The next low alternate bid of $73.00 from AVES Audio Visual is recommended.
Item #16 - CD/Cassette Recorder/Player: The low alternate bid of $160.59 from AVES Audio Visual is not recommended because the item bid does not have the physical characteristics required for compact storage and durability. Next low bid of $172.83 from Valiant IMC is recommended.
Item #19 - Individual Headphones: Brodart Company is recommended due to Pyramid School Products model not meeting specifications.
Item #23 - Projector, Hi-Lumen Overhead: The low alternate bid of $123.00 from Valiant IMC is not recommended because it does not have a hi-low lamp intensity switch or thermal protection circuit as item specified. The next low bid of $158.70 from USA, Inc. is recommended.
Discounts on catalog pricing were also requested. Staff recommends that all bidders that responded with a discount be awarded.
