5. #2007-069, Small kitchen equipment catalog bid

Purpose: A - Request decision - closure required

Time: No time limit

Description:

Bids for the following items were advertised, received, and opened by the Purchasing Services Department. The appropriate department has evaluated all bids and forwarded their recommendation to Purchasing Services to be reviewed for compliance with Educational Code 44.031 and School Board Policy.

This is a compliance bid that will establish approved vendors and pricing for the purchase of small kitchen equipment for the FANS Department. This is the first year of a renewable bid.

Invitation to Bid was sent to 16 potential bidders. One bid was received and evaluated by FANS. Prior to making significant purchases, Staff will compare bid pricing with existing cooperative pricing available to the District.

Bid 2007-069 was formatted for a discount from manufacturer's catalog or price list. Freight will be added when pricing is requested and will be quoted separately. Pricing for this service will be added to the cost of manufacturer's discounted pricing.

Staff recommends Pasco Brokerage, Inc. to be the provider of small kitchen equipment. For the past three years, Pasco Brokerage, Inc. has been the sole provider of small kitchen equipment. They also offered additional discounts from other manufacturers that were not listed in the specification. Pasco Brokerage, Inc. has provided excellent service to Plano ISD with many school renovations and everyday inquiries.

Attached is the catalog bid document that established the pricing discount.

Recommendation:

The Administration recommends that the bid for the purchase of small kitchen equipment be awarded to Pasco Brokerage, Inc.
