3. Cooperative Purchase - Educational Purchasing Cooperative of North Texas for Security Equipment

Purpose: A - Request decision - closure required

Time: No time limit

Description:

This is a purchase of security equipment using a cooperative bid awarded by Irving ISD, a member of the Educational Purchasing Cooperative of North Texas. This recommended purchase meets the criteria set forth in the Texas Educational Code Section 44.031 and School Board Policy.

This purchase will provide all District locations with a visitor registration system. The Security Services Department has made this a high priority project in an effort to identify and register all visitors to District schools and facilities. The project includes equipment and software that will scan, print temporary identification badges, and record visitor information. The equipment and software also enables the District to screen all visitors through a sex offender database.

Recommendation:

The administration recommends the purchase of this security equipment from Raptor Technologies.

Business Impact:

The value of this purchase is $129,812.25 from 2004 Bond Funds.
