j. Amendment to Contract for the Collection of Delinquent Taxes and Corresponding Resolution
Presenter: Richard Matkin
Purpose: A - Request decision - closure required
Time: No time limit
Description:
The Administration and tax collection attorney recommend a proposed amendment to the Contract for the Collection of Delinquent Taxes as well as a proposed resolution relating to the contract and to the early turnover of tangible personal property taxes.Proposed amendment and resolution are available for viewing in the Superintendent's Office.
The turnover of delinquent tangible personal property taxes to the delinquent tax attorney for collection on the 60th day after such taxes become delinquent was added by the Legislature in 2005 in §33.11 of the Tax Code as a collection tool due to the number of businesses that close before July 1. The District's collection attorney feels this will allow for earlier collections of taxes from businesses that close in May through July, thus providing additional revenue to the District.
Recommendation:
The Administration recommends the amendment to the Contract for the Collection of Delinquent Taxes and the corresponding Resolutions relating to the contract.
