m. Amendments to 2007 Plano ISD Health Benefit document and Flexible Benefit Plan description

Description:

In order to attract and retain hourly employees in transportation and food and nutritional services, a change in the method of deducting premiums for the health plan is proposed. Rather than double deducting these employees the last two or three months of the school year to pay for their health premiums during the summer months, we are proposing a plan to annualize deductions. The annual total will be spread over the total number of checks received in the year, beginning with the January 25th paryoll.

The district's legal counsel has made appropriate changes to both the Plano ISD Employee Health Benefit Plan document and the PISD Flexible Benefit Plan Summary Plan Description, to provide guidance regarding administration of the plans for this group of employees.

The revised documents are underlined and marked with comments. Health plan changes are on pages 23-27; Flex plan changes are on pages i, ii, 1, 2, 4, 5, 10, 15, and 16. Upon approval, the corrected documents will be repaginated and posted on the district's website. A letter of explanation to affected employees will be sent immediately after approval.

Recommendation:

To approve the amended 2007 Plano ISD Employee Health Benefit Plan document and the Flexible Benefit Plan Summary Description to provide for annualized premiums for transportation and food and nutritional services employees.
