VIII. 2006-07 Calendar

Description:

TEA has approved the August 9, 2006 start date for the 2006-07 school year. Based on the approved date, a proposed calendar has been established including a full week for Fall Break; semester exams prior to Winter Break, and fairly balanced semesters. This calendar includes the Wednesday prior to Thanksgiving as a holiday. The last day for students in December prior to Winter Break is December 21. Students will return on January 4. Teachers will observe a workday on January 3. A total of 87 days of instruction are reflected in the first semester. To complete the required days of instruction, students would be released on Wednesday, May 23, and teachers would observe a workday on Thursday, May 24, allowing for a total of 92 days in the second semester. A total of 179 days of instruction are represented by this calendar.
