Description:

The Beck Group was selected as the Construction Manager at Risk at the March 1, 2005 Board Meeting. Since that time, Beck has solicited and taken subcontract bids and using that information has submitted their Guaranteed Maximum Price of $8,617,832.00 for this work. This amount reflects a reduction of $98,471.00 to the GMP by negotiation/clarification with Beck, SHW and the District. The Guaranteed Maximum Price as submitted included the fees for Pre-Construction Services and Construction Period Services that were previously approved by the Board on March 1, 2005. By the contractual definition, the Construction Manager's Fee for Construction Period Services is a part of the Guaranteed Maximum Price. The summary below represents the allocation as will be shown in the contract. The breakdown of costs has been reviewed by the Architect and the New Construction Department. Items have been clarified as necessary. The Architect recommends the GMP amount presented and represents that the GMP reflects the requirements outlined by the District. This construction budget is being funded by $659,998 from 2000 Bond funds and $7,967,434 from 2004 Bond funds. Summary of Proposal: Pre- Construction Services Fee (previously approved): $ 9,600.00 Guaranteed Maximum Price (includes previously approved Construction Services Fee at 3.0%): $8,617,832.00 Total Contract Amount: $8,627,432.00

Recommendation:

The Administration recommends that the Contract for Construction Manager at Risk with the Beck Group be amended to provide the Guaranteed Maximum Price of $8,627,432.00, for the Davis Elementary School Renovation.
