3. Clark Stadium turf replacement

Purpose: A - Request decision - closure required

Time: No time limit

Description:

A Proposal for the following item was requested from an awarded vendor of The Cooperative Purchasing Network (TCPN). A second proposal was obtained from a vendor not under contract with either the Buy Board or TCPN. The recommended proposal meets the criteria set forth in the Educational Code Section 44.031. All proposals are reviewed by the appropriate department and recommended to the Purchasing Department for final review and compliance. This proposal will replace the synthetic turf at Clark Stadium with FieldTurf Pro Series. This is the same infill synthetic turf as is used at Kimbrough Stadium and the three Student Activity Centers. The existing turf will be removed and the new turf applied over the existing base. This method of installation reduced the cost of the vendor's initial proposal by $253,629. Installing the new turf over the existing base was successfully done at existing stadiums in Mesquite ISD and Garland ISD. This proposal is under the existing TCPN Buy Board contract. During the development of this proposal, a comparison quote was obtained from a different manufacturer with a similar product, not under a cooperative contract. That quote was approximately $21,000 higher. Recommendation:

It is recommended that the contract for Clark Stadium Turf Replacement be awarded to Atlas Track and Tennis in the amount of $465,160.48.
