Board Agenda - March 21, 2006
4. Clark Stadium lighting replacement
Presenter: Richard Matkin
Purpose: A - Request decision - closure required
Time: No time limit
Description:
A Proposal for the following item was requested from a TASB Buy Board vendor. The recommended proposal meets the criteria set forth in the Educational Code Section 44.031. All proposals are reviewed by the appropriate department and recommended to the Purchasing Department for final review and compliance.
Light level readings were taken on the playing field at Clark Stadium. The light levels are approximately 21% of the light levels at Kimbrough Stadium. Information was obtained from other high school stadiums in the area, indicating the levels at Kimbrough are the norm for similar facilities in this region.
Musco Sports Lighting is a vendor on the Buy Board (Texas Local Government Purchasing Cooperative, Proposal #204-04 Parks and Recreation Field Lighting Products and Installation). Musco was selected by PISD, after a solicitation of the vendors available on the Buy Board, for the recent project to light the baseball and softball fields at the three Senior High Schools. Musco also provided the lighting at the new Clark Gamefield as a subcontract to the general contractor.
Light level criteria similar to PISD Kimbrough Stadium and Mesquite Hanby Stadium were developed by PISD and Musco was asked to provide their quote. Their initial proposal has been clarified and adjusted to meet the District's needs. A diagram of the light levels on a grid across the field has been submitted to demonstrate the Design performance meets the requested criteria.
