Description:
Competitive Sealed Proposals for the following items were advertised, received, and opened by the Purchasing Services Department. The appropriate department has evaluated all proposals and forwarded their recommendation to Purchasing Services to be reviewed for compliance with Education Code and School Board Policy.
Competitive Sealed Proposals were solicited for this work. Five Contractors responded and their proposals were received and opened on April 13, 2006. Representative from Facility Planning and Construction and the Architect evaluated the Proposals in accordance with the published criteria and their relative weights.
Summary:
This proposal provides for expansion of the existing Library by renovating space within the existing building. The Evaluation Team checked references and evaluated the proposals. The Evaluation Team also conducted interviews with the two lowest proposers. Based upon the review of the proposers' qualifications and understanding of the work, the Evaluation Committee is recommending the proposal of Hill and Wilkinson, Ltd. be accepted. This is the second lowest proposal for the Base Proposal. Two alternates were also bid, and it is recommended that Alternate 2 - Upgrade Light Fixtures be accepted.
Base Proposal: $240,000.00
Alternate 1 - Upgrade Ceiling Panels: 0.00
Alternate 2 - Light Fixtures: 4,300.00
Contract Amount $244,300.00
Construction Budget Estimate: $300,000.00
Recommendation:
The Administration recommends that the contract for construction of the Haggard Middle School Library Expansion be awarded to Hill and Wilkinson, Ltd., in the amount of $244,300.00.
Business Impact:
Estimated Value: $244,300.00.
Budget/Financial Implication: 2004 Bond Funds.
