Board Agenda - June 06, 2006
8. #3727, Musical equipment
Presenter: Richard Matkin
Purpose: A - Request decision - closure required
Time: No time limit
Description:
This is a compliance bid that will establish approved vendors and pricing for the purchase of musical equipment for the school year 2006-2007.This is the first year of a renewable bid.
Staff has reviewed this bid and recommends awarding low bidder for all items with the following exceptions: #36 and #103. Detailed justifications are provided for those exceptions as follows:
Justifications:
Item #36 - Peterson tuner: Low alternate bid of $232.67 from Gamble Music is not recommended because the substituted item is not equal to the specified item. The Peterson CS5000, as specified, is a 12-window, fully-chromatic tuner and the alternate item is not. The next low bid of $2,999 from Washington Music is not recommended because they do not offer on-site service as specified. The next low bid of $3,312.00 from Mr. E's Music is recommended.
Item #103 -Yamaha drum: Low bid of $565.25 from KYR is not recommended because the substitution will not match existing equipment in our drum lines. The next low bid of $584 from Interstate is recommended.
In addition, low bids from Washington Music Center for items #15, 19, 21-23, 34 and 36 are all rejected because the vendor does not provide on-site servicing which was a requirement for these items. They have all been awarded to the next low bidder.
