d. Consideration and Possible Action to Declare PPE Curriculum Surplus

Presenter: Jeff Bailey

Purpose: A - Request decision - closure required

Time: No time limit

Description:

The Practical Parent Education Program (PPE) is currently a partnership between the Plano community and Plano ISD. The program is designed to provide support, resources and parenting skills for all parents in the community as they navigate the challenges and joys of child-rearing. PPE offers parenting classes in schools and other locations throughout the community, targeting all levels of development. Special focus series are also offered in areas such as parenting children with attention deficits, strong-willed temperaments, giftedness and more. Each fall PPE sponsors a national conference with nationally recognized experts on parenting. Currently there are more than 200 Texas communities that use the Plano based program as well as communities in 13 other states.

Consideration and possible action to declare the Plano ISD Practical Parent Education (PPE) curriculum surplus and consideration and possible action to authorize such property to be put up for bid. The district administration is recommending that the board of trustees pass a resolution declaring the Plano ISD PPE curriculum as surplus. The administration believes this declaration is in the best interest of the district and directly relates to the continued operation of the public schools entrusted to their care. The Administration recommends that the Board of Trustees act to allow the administration to follow the bid process to sell the PPE curriculum.
