2. Bid 2008-019 - Sound System Repair

Description:

This is a compliance bid that will establish approved vendors and pricing for the purchase of sound system repair service for the District. This is the first year of a renewable bid. Facility Services and Purchasing Services have reviewed the above-referenced bid. Batts Audio, Video & Lighting Inc. submitted the lowest overall labor rate. Hyatt Technical Services provided the second lowest overall labor rate, but only provided one school district as a reference. Quality Sound and Communications provided the next lowest overall labor rate, provided references from three school districts, and has provided excellent service to Plano ISD for several years. Quality Sound is the local Telecor dealer, whose public address systems were installed at Boggess, Hickey and Wyatt. By awarding to two vendors, staff can request a quote from each vendor for each sound system project to determine the best value for the District. Staff also recommends discount from list prices be awarded to all respondents. Tab sheet is attached.

Recommendation:

The administration recommends that this bid be awarded to Batts Audio, Video & Lighting Inc. and Quality Sound & Communications.

Business Impact:

Electrical Contracted Service Budget-$300,000.00
