8. Co-op Purchase Library Furniture for Hendrick Middle School

Presenter: Richard Matkin

Purpose: A - Request decision - closure required

Time: No time limit

Description:

Staff has determined the following purchase is efficiently made through an existing cooperative thereby, providing the best value for the District. The use of purchasing cooperatives is allowed by the Education Code, the Local Government Code, Chapter 791, and School Board Policy.

The Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) BuyBoard has several contracts that the District uses on a regular basis. Staff determined that the BuyBoard has an approved catalog and vendor for library furniture. The Learning Media Staff and Purchasing Staff determined that Tesco brand furniture is considered to be the District standard for Library Furniture, due to its high quality and durability. References, quality of samples, and past usage of the Tesco Furniture indicate that Tesco offers the best long-term value.

Recommendation:

The administration recommends the purchase of the Library Furniture-Hendrick Middle School using the cooperative method listed.

Business Impact:

2004 Bond Funds-$57,066.00
