9. Co-op Purchase OCE Copier Contract

Purpose: A - Request decision - closure required

Time: No time limit

Description:

Staff has determined the following purchase is efficiently made through an existing cooperative thereby, providing the best value for the District. The use of purchasing cooperatives is allowed by the Education Code, the Local Government Code, Chapter 791, and School Board Policy.

The Texas Multiple Awards Schedule (TXMAS) provides members of the State of Texas Cooperative the ability to use selected Federal General Services Administration contracts. OCE North America is the current provider of copiers for the District's Elementary campuses and is an awarded vendor on the TXMAS program. The OCE copier fleet, currently in use, has given excellent service over the past five years and is still operating with minimal maintenance issues. Staff has determined that, by keeping the existing copiers in service for an additional two years, the District can achieve a savings of approximately twenty-two percent over the current annual cost.

Recommendation:

The administration recommends the purchase of OCE Copier Contract using the cooperative method listed.
