5. #3749, Service Center exterior wall repair
Presenter: Richard Matkin
Purpose: A - Request decision - closure required
Time: No time limit
Description:
Proposals for the following items were advertised, received, and opened by the Purchasing Services Department. The appropriate department has evaluated all Proposals and forwarded their recommendation to Purchasing Services to be reviewed for compliance with Education Code 44.031, 44.039, and School Board Policy.
Competitive Sealed Proposals were solicited for this work. Three Contractors responded and their proposals were received and opened on July 18, 2006. Representatives from Facility Planning and Construction and the Architect evaluated the Proposals in accordance with the published criteria and their relative weights.
This proposal provides for repair of the damaged wall panels at the southwest end of the building, and replacing the existing rock veneer with an acrylic coating matching the north side of the building. The Evaluation Team checked references and evaluated the proposals. The Evaluation Team also conducted interviews with the two lowest proposers. Based upon the review of the proposer's qualifications and understanding of the work, the Evaluation Committee is recommending the proposal of Hallman & Keele, Inc. be accepted. This is the second lowest proposal for the Base Proposal.
One alternate was also bid. The Base bid replaced the wall on the south face and for approximately 100 feet up the west face. The alternate will continue the replacement for the entire warehouse wall, all the way to the building main entry. It is recommended that Alternate not be accepted at this time, though this may need to be addressed in the future.
