Description:
This is a compliance bid for the purchase of kitchen repair parts and service for all Food and Nutritional Services (FANS) locations. This is the first year of a renewable bid.
The FANS Department reviewed the bids. The bid was specified as a discount from catalog format in Section I and labor rates and repair parts in Section II. To maximize ordering efficiency, Staff recommends awarding all bidders that offered a discount from catalog for Section I. This will allow staff to order from the vendor that offers the best value, has the required items available, and can meet the needs of repair staff for each order.
For Section II Kitchen Repair Service, Staff recommends Ecolab dba GCS Service Inc. as the primary vendor and ISI Commercial Refrigeration, L.P. as the secondary vendor. Ecolab offered a better discount on manufacturer's published price list for repair parts, and offered the best prices for installation of new equipment. Staff determined that Ecolab offers the best overall value and best meets the District's needs. The District has experience with Ecolab and found their service satisfactory. ISI Commercial Refrigeration, L.P. was the only other vendor to bid Section II. They were selected as the secondary vendor to give District staff an alternative, if the primary vendor is unable to meet District needs.
Recommendation:
The Administration recommends that the bid for the purchase of kitchen repair parts and service be awarded to:
