k. 2008 employee health benefits plan

Description:

The employee benefit committee met with district staff and health care consultants on September 10, 2007, to finalize recommendations for the 2008 plan. Although health care inflation continues, we are pleased to offer some improved benefits for employees and a decrease in both medical and dental premiums. As a response to RFP 2007-023, CIGNA was approved as the 2008 administrator for medical and alternate plans, including the CIGNA Open Access Plus preferred provider network, at the June 5, 2007 meeting. The committee offers the attached recommendations for 2008.

Recommendation:

To approve the 2008 Plano ISD Employee Health Benefit Plan, CIGNA as the stop loss carrier, Wachovia for consulting and the Center for Lifestyle Enhancement as the wellness assessment provider, effective January 1, 2008, pending contract approval.

Business Impact:

The $259 per employee, per month to fund health benefits is included in the 2007/2008 approved budget.
