Description:

This is a compliance bid that will establish approved vendors and pricing for the purchase of periodicals for the school year 2006-2007. This is the first year of a renewable bid.

Staff has reviewed this bid and recommends the following:

Elementary, Secondary, and Professional Titles - Staff recommends Discount Magazine Subscription Service, Inc. EVA Subscriptions offered the lowest overall pricing, but they were excluded from consideration due to poor references. Although W. T. Cox and Magazine Subscription Service Agency were low on several individual titles, Discount Magazine Subscription Service, Inc. offered the best overall pricing of the remaining vendors.

Quantity Discounts - recommendation to W. T. Cox, Time for Kids, and Magazine Subscription Service Agency. Staff recommends low bid on all items. W. T. Cox and Magazine Subscription Service Agency were tied on the line item for "Weekly Reader" subscription, but in the interest of efficiency it is recommended that both be awarded. The line item for "School Library Journal" was not awarded since staff has determined that they will not be ordering that title in quantities.

The Administration recommends that this bid be awarded to the following:
