support to their children at home. Furthermore,
many parents lack the necessary vocational
skills to seek employment beyond a minimum
wage situation.
As a result, parents are working many hours
at more than one job and are not able to
spend valuable
time at home with their children. Through
the series of ESL classes, parents will acquire
knowledge
and skills that promote an attitude of lifelong
learning for themselves and their children.

can get their
hands
on. Chapter books are especially exciting

at the same time. Having a listening station
library creates a relaxing way of enjoying
books by letting
the children listen to and follow along as
a story is read to them. The follow-up for
both
would come
through activities such as writing book reports,
summaries, discussions in small groups, etc.
