Open House - March 18, 2006
Administrators representing every campus in Plano
ISD will be present to meet and talk with you about
teaching opportunities at our school district's annual
Recruitment Open House to be held from 8:30 a.m. to
12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 18, at Plano
West Senior High School ,
5601 West Parker Road, Plano 75093. All certified
teachers, librarians and counselors
are invited to attend the event.
Overview
Applicants should bring several copies of
resumes, teaching certificate or college letter of anticipated
completion. To qualify
for the event you must have verifiable credentials. All applicants
are required to present proof of certification or proof of anticipated
certification. A certified applicant is an individual who currently
holds a standard, provisional or professional Texas Certification
or who is certified in another state.
If you have completed a university teaching program
and will be certified by the start of the 2006 - 2007 school year you are eligible
to attend. If you are currently accepted in an alternative certification
program in the following critical need areas; bilingual, secondary
science, secondary math, special education and Spanish you are
also eligible to attend.
Plano ISD has employed approximately 30% of our
teaching staff from candidates who participate in the Recruitment
Open House. We continue to attract more applicants each year to

Open House
Pre-registration for Recruitment Open House ended February 28, 2006 at 5:00pm
All pre-registered applicants will receive a confirmation packet which will include
a name badge and job fair information.
The following items must be completed and submitted as a walk-in applicant on the day of the event March 18, 2006.
To register as a walk-in, on the day of the event, bring
copies of your teaching certification and/or
university letter of completion. Applicants currently enrolled
in an alternative certification program (bilingual, Spanish,
special education, secondary science or secondary math only)
please bring a copy of your current letter of acceptance
in order to be admitted to the open house. If possible as a walk-in please complete an online employment
application prior to attending.

Frequently Asked Questions
I am considering making a career change and I have always
wanted to teach, Is this job fair for me?
The Recruitment Open House is only for currently
certified teachers or those who will be certified
through a university program by the start of the 2006-2007 school
year.
If I have a pending application with an alternative certification
program may I attend?
Not at this time. We are only accepting applicant who are currently
enrolled in an alternative certification program in the following
areas; bilingual, secondary science, secondary math, Spanish and
special education.
What do I send to verify my certification?
All Texas Certifications will be verified by Human Resources through
SBEC.
If you are an out-of-state applicant, send a copy of your state
credentials.
If you are currently enrolled in an alternative certification program,
send your current acceptance letter.
If you are graduating from a university teaching program this year,
send a copy of your university letter of intent stating you will be recommended for certification.
Where do I send my certification information?

Will I get a confirmation for admittance to the Recruitment
Open House
Yes, after January 16th. When you have pre-registered by submitted your on line application, registration
form, your certification has been verified, and you have completed the online Teacher Insight
Interview (TI). Pre-registration ended February 28, 2006 at 5:00.
What is the Teacher Insight Interview (TI)?
The interview is a 45-minute on-line interview required for all
teachers interested in employment with the district.
When should I expect to hear from the Human Resources
Department?
Confirmation packets will be mailed out starting January 16, 2006. Packets will be mailed only to those applicants with completed pre-registration information, pre-registration ended February 28, 2006 at 5:00. :
- Completed Teacher Insight Interview
- The online employment application
- The Recruitment Open House registration form
- Verification of certification (a copy of your teaching certification, university letter of completion or acceptance letter for an alternative program).
If I have already taken the TI what should I expect?
If you have taken the TI with Plano ISD, you will not need to re-take the TI. If you have taken
the TI with another institution, please transfer the TI information to Plano ISD. (how to transfer)
What should I expect at the Recruitment Open House?
Historically every campus in Plano ISD will be represented. Campus
administrators, team leaders and staff will be present to speak
with you regarding their campuses and Plano ISD. You are not guaranteed
a personal interview with an administrator, but you will have the
opportunity to speak with as many district administrators as you
like.
What should I bring to Recruitment Open House?
If you pre-register, bring plenty of resumes, at least 20 or more
( we will not provide copy service). If you do not pre-register
bring plenty of resumes, a copy of your credentials and a copy of your current letter of acceptance, if you are currently enrolled in an alternative program.
Bus Tours
Bus tours will be available for any interested applicant. The buses will depart from Plano West at 11:00 a.m. and return in approximately one hour to Plano West. The tour will showcase points of interest throughout the Plano ISD and the City of Plano. Seating is limited, if you are interested please indicate by email to recruitment@pisd.edu.
