Recruitment Open House - March 28, 2009

Administrators representing every campus in Plano ISD will be present to meet and talk with you about teaching opportunities at our school district's annual Recruitment Open House to be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, at Murphy Middle School , 620 North Murphy Road, Murphy TX  75094. All certified teachers, counselors, librarians and other education professionals are invited to attend the event.

Overview

Applicants should bring several copies of resumes, teaching certificate or college letter of anticipated completion. To qualify for the event you must have verifiable credentials. All applicants are required to present proof of certification or proof of anticipated certification. A certified applicant is an individual who currently holds a standard, provisional or professional Texas Certification, or who is currently certified in another state and will have their credentials reviewed by the Texas Education Agency prior to May 2009.

If you have completed a Texas university teaching program and will be certified by the start of the 2009 - 2010 school year, you are eligible to attend. If you are currently accepted in an alternative certification program and are eligible for a statement of eligibility in the following critical need areas; bilingual, secondary science, secondary math, special education, American Sign Language, Generalist 4-8 and Spanish, you are also eligible to attend.

Plano ISD has employed approximately 30% of our teaching staff from candidates who participate in the Recruitment Open House. We continue to attract more applicants each year to this event. We look forward to sharing in this exciting experience with you.

Copiers and computer access will not be available for applicant use. 

Registering for Recruitment Open House

The following items must be completed and/or brought with you to the open house


9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Open visitation for all walk-in applicants

The check-in area for walk-in applicants will close at 11:30 a.m.

To register as a walk-in on the day of the event, bring copies of your teaching certification and/or university letter of completion, and/or highly qualified documentation (test results or college transcripts).  Applicants currently enrolled in an alternative certification program (bilingual, American Sign Language, Spanish, Generalist 4-8, Special Education, secondary science or secondary math only) please bring a copy of your current statement of eligibilityand in order to be admitted to the open house.  If possible, as a walk-in, please complete an online employment application prior to attending.

Frequently Asked Questions

I am considering making a career change and I have always wanted to teach. Is this job fair for me?

The Recruitment Open House is only for currently certified teachers, or those who will be certified through a Texas university program by the start of the 2009-2010 school year.

If I have a pending application with an alternative certification program may I attend?

Not at this time. We are only accepting applicants who are currently enrolled in an alternative certification program in the following areas; bilingual, secondary science, secondary math, American Sign Language, Spanish, generalist 4-8 and special education.

What do I send to verify my certification?

All Texas Certifications will be verified by Human Resources through SBEC.
If you are an out-of-state applicant send a copy of your state credentials.
If you are currently enrolled in an alternative certification program send your current statement of eligibility
If you are graduating from a university teaching program this year send a copy of your university letter of intent stating you will be recommended for certification.

What is the TeacherInsight Interview (TI)?

The TI is a 45-minute online interview required for all teachers interested in employment with the district.

If I have already taken the TI what should I expect?

If you have taken the TI with Plano ISD, you will not need to re-take the it. If you have taken the TI with another institution, please transfer the information to Plano ISD. (how to transfer)

What should I expect at the Recruitment Open House?

Historically, every campus in Plano ISD will be represented. Campus administrators, team leaders, and staff will be present to speak with you regarding their campuses and Plano ISD. You are not guaranteed a personal interview with an administrator, but you will have the opportunity to speak with as many district administrators as you like.

What should I bring to Recruitment Open House?

If you pre-register, bring plenty of resumes, at least 20 or more ( we will not provide copy service). If you do not pre-register bring plenty of resumes, a copy of your credentials, and a copy of your current statement of eligibility if you are currently enrolled in an alternative program.
