If you would like to be considered as a substitute for the 2016-2017 school year, you may submit or update your online application after July 1, 2016 at https://oea.pisd.edu/submission/. If you wish to substitute as a teacher, you will need a Bachelor’s degree; in order to substitute as a teacher assistant and/or clerical staff member, you will need a high school diploma, GED, or an associate’s degree.

The substitute application process is as follows:
- Complete the online application, including accurate email addresses for references.
- Contact your professional references and ensure they have completed the electronic reference request form. The form is sent from the email address firstname.lastname@example.org and is titled “Applicant reference questions.” Plano ISD requires two professional references to be completed.
- If you are applying for a substitute teaching role, you will also be required to complete the TeacherInsight™ Survey.
- Applications are reviewed on a weekly basis after references have been submitted. If you are selected, you will be contacted with further instructions regarding fingerprinting.
We are grateful to have an abundance of substitute applicants; please understand with the high volume of interest, not all applicants will be selected. Employment of substitutes is initiated according to the current needs of Plano ISD and the qualifications of the applicant. The district may give preference to the employment of substitute teachers who hold a valid teaching certificate. It is important that your online application lists an active, current email address; if you are selected, you will be contacted via email.
Current / Former PISD Employees: Once you have submitted a resignation and it has been processed by Human Resources, you may complete the online application from the link above, select New Applicant and create a new TEAMS user ID and password. After you have submitted your online application, send an e-mail stating your interest in substituting for the upcoming school year to email@example.com. In your e-mail, please indicate your status as a former employee and if you have recently retired through TRS.
NOTE: If you have recently retired through TRS, we will begin the substitute process for you thirty days after the later of: the date you receive your last PISD paycheck; or your last day of employment.
