National School Counseling Week: Spotlight on McCall Elementary Counselor with 'Heart to Help'

Melody Jones grew up in Tyler, Texas, the daughter of ministers who modeled helping others. Her goal, every day, is to go the extra mile to help students, teachers and parents to succeed. "I've always had the heart to take care of people," says the McCall Elementary School counselor and self-proclaimed conscientious professional teacher. "My personal philosophy is 'giving back.' As part of the human race, I give back what was given to me." Melody is among hundreds of Plano ISD school counselors who are in the spotlight during National School Counseling Week, February 6-10. Trustees Join State Lawsuit Challenging School Funding
The Plano ISD Board of Trustees has joined with other Texas public school districts in a lawsuit against the State of Texas. The school district asserts that the current system and level of funding impair the education available to students in the district, as well as the ability of the district to provide adequate education to students.
