Holiday Art Contest Winner

Student Karen Chen's original drawing captured first place in the 2005 Plano ISD and Webb & Webb Holiday Greeting Card Art Contest, "The Art of Giving." The Shepton High School ninth grade student and three additional contest finalists will be recognized by the school board on December 13. View the four finalists' artwork on our website. read

Siemens Westinghouse Finalists

Four Plano ISD students have been named Regional Finalists in the prestigious Siemens Westinghouse Competition. Jeff Nanney and Erik Feng, Plano East Senior High School, and Wilson Hseih and Lisa Herrington, Plano West Senior High School are Finalists in the national competition, which encourages students to undertake research in science, math, engineering and technology. read

Wilson Middle School and Clark High School are among 130 Texas schools recently named to the list of 2005 TBEC/JFTK Honor Roll Schools. Daniel Wang and Enhao Li attended 2005 Expo Science
International in Santiago, Chile, this summer. During their visit, they were honored to be invited to the United States Embassy to celebrate the July 4th Holiday with the U.S. Ambassador. read

Trustees to Apply for State Waiver
to Start 2006-07 School Year on August 9

At their November 1 meeting, school trustees held a public hearing regarding a calendar waiver request to begin school on August 9, 2006. The vast majority of speakers indicated support of the board’s waiver request. Also at the meeting, trustees heard a bond issuance update and a report on the Statistical Analysis System (SAS). They also approved several policies and Consent Agenda items. read

Children's Book Week November 13-19

Elementary schools across the district are planning "Children's Book Week" activities for November 13-19. During this annual event, our elementary schools will help foster a love and proficiency for reading in children while promoting the importance of parental involvement.
