Congratulations
to Coach Tom Inman and the Plano Senior High School Wildcats
Basketball Team who made history on Saturday, March 11, as
the first Plano ISD and Collin County team to capture a boy’s
state basketball championship!
The
Wildcats dethroned defending state champs Humble Kingwood 60-58
in overtime on Saturday
at UT's Erwin Center in Austin
to win the state title.
'Dream Come True'
Interviewed after the game on Fox Sports Network, Junior
Point Guard and MVP John Roberson said, "I give a lot
of credit to my teammates." Referring to his recent
move from Florida, he stated, "I'm glad I picked Plano.
This is a dream come true for me."
Coach Tom Inman, also interviewed on the telecast following
the victory, said, "It means everything to me and the
kids to win this state championship. I want to thank the
community for its support of the basketball program."
Coach
Inman's team won in an intense overtime, coming back from
a first-half trail. "I've always said we have a
good 'second-half team’…..We played good defense
tonight against Kingwood."
Referring
to Roberson, Coach Inman said "If he's not the best point guard
in the state and the nation, I want to see who is." He
also complimented Lawrence Mann for his great effort during
the
game. In the winner's circle, Texas Governor Rick Perry
presented medallions to the reigning state champs, the
Plano Wildcats.
Congratulations, Wildcats!
