Early Childhood School Student Smiling

Fall Break is October 3-7

Plano ISD will observe fall break October 3-7. Students will release early on Friday, September 30, as follows: Early childhood schools, no afternoon sessions; Elementary schools, 12:00 p.m.; Middle schools, 12:40 p.m.; and High/senior high schools, 1:20 p.m. Enjoy your break!

Colts to Dedicate School Tonight

McCall Elementary School "Colts" will gallop to school at 7:00 p.m. tonight -Thursday, September 29 - to enjoy the school's dedication ceremony and open house. The community is invited to join in the celebration honoring school namesake David McCall, Jr. read

ESL Teacher Visits Mexico
Through Seminar Abroad Program

Be Janet Teng, Hightower Elementary School ESL teacher, was among 15 U.S. educators selected to experience Mexico for five weeks this summer through the Fulbright-Hays Seminar Abroad Program. She said that the unique journey has helped her better teach and serve her students and families. read

Holiday Art Contest Underway

All Plano students are encouraged to enter their original artwork for the Seventh Annual Plano ISD Holiday Greeting Card Art Contest. "The Art of Giving" is the theme. An entry form can be downloaded from the district website. read

Hurricane Benefit Concert

"The Vocal Majority," America's Premier Pops Chorus, will headline "Helping to Heal," an October 16 benefit concert to raise funds to assist hurricane evacuees who have relocated to Collin County cities. To be held at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, the evening will feature high school choirs from Plano, Frisco and McKinney. read

NEA Provides $100,000 in Hurricane Relief to Texas Schools

The National Education Association has presented $100,000 in direct aid from the NEA Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund to Texas students, teachers, and school employees who have been affected by Hurricane Katrina. Texas schools have enrolled more than 60,000 displaced students. read

   
School Board Update

October 10 Town Hall Meeting

Trustees will host a town hall meeting on Monday, October 10, at Huffman Elementary School, one of three Plano ISD "key schools." The Huffman staff will present information about initiatives underway to improve student learning and close the achievement gap. read

Game Day Sponsors

September 30 Football Game Day Sponsors are Share Plus Federal Bank and Baylor Regional Medical Center in Plano. Share Plus will sponsor the Plano vs. Plano West game at Clark Stadium, which will be broadcast at k-12.pisd.edu/wpakand on 104.7 FM radio. Baylor will sponsor the Plano East vs. Flower Mound Marcus game at Kimbrough Stadium, which will be broadcast live on 91.3 FM radio.
