Thought for the Week:

A Poem by Ashley Sanders, Plano ISD Special Programs Center Teacher - Winner, International Society of Poets Award

“The Bridge Builder"

A child walked alone one day
And came upon a lake
Potential waited on the other side
But there was no bridge to take
He yelled and screamed and tried to swim
But the water was too deep
Potential waited patiently
As the child began to weep

People gathered, stopped and stared
But no one lent a hand
The child struggled helplessly
Then one man took a stand
He gathered logs and built a bridge
And helped the child along
Potential gave the child a home
And made the child strong

Each of us can help a child
When potential’s out of reach
We can build a bridge
For every student that we teach
