Siemens National Finalists ~ Students John Chen, Plano East (above), and Alexander Huang, PSHS (left), captured finalist standing in the prestigious Siemens National Competition in Math, Science and Technology held in New York City. Plano ISD has been cited by two leading organizations as being among the best school districts in the country. Results are in from SchoolMatch® and "Expansion Management Magazine," both relocation companies catering to families and businesses seeking a family or corporate relocation.
NCLB Coordinator Appointed
Wendy DeSpain, Memorial Elementary School principal, has been appointed by the school board as district NCLB coordinator. She begins duties effective January 22, 2008. Her successor will be Maricela Helm, Memorial assistant principal.
Wells Celebrates National Honor
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Doug Otto and Wells Elementary School Principal Stefanie Ramos co-emceed a recent ceremony in celebration of Wells’ U.S. Department of Education - Blue Ribbon School award. Dignitaries, students, faculty and staff celebrated the school's accomplishment.
1st Grade Curriculum Awarded
PISD and the City of Plano were awarded by the North TX Corporate Recycling Association for the "Everything in Its Place" 1st Grade Curriculum, which includes a field trip to the City's Discovery Center.
