Superintendent of Schools Dr. Doug Otto has captured the “21 Leaders for the 21st Century” Award, sponsored by the "Inside Collin County Business" newspaper. Dr. Otto was joined by members of his family at a March 26 reception at which the awards were announced and honorees were congratulated. April 1 Business Meeting - Trustees took the following action.

SCORE Program Monetary Reward ~ Trustees were presented with a check for $26,880 from Oncor Electric Delivery and CLEAResult for the district's participation in the Oncor SCORE program, which rewards schools for district modifications of HVAC and lighting systems that ultimately result in significant utility cost savings.

Reports ~ District-Based Improvement Committee Response to District Advisory Committees; Budget Report - Overview of the debt service fund and an area district comparison based on previous year's actual general operating fund; and International Baccalaureate (IB) Program Update - presented by Plano East Principal Karen McDonald and IB Coordinator Theresa Biggs.

Recognitions: National Library Week & School Nurse Day ~ The school board adopted and presented resolutions in honor of National Library Week and School Nurse Day.

Consent Agenda ~ Trustees approved all Consent Agenda items, which include bids, purchases and other routine business items.
- Administrative Recommendations ~ Trustees upheld the administrative recommendation regarding an employee appeal pursuant to Board Policy DFF (Local). The board removed Item VIII - Consideration and possible action to approve the recommendation of the superintendent to send notice of proposed termination of a term contract teacher.
