National Merit Scholarship Recognition
In addition to National Merit Semifinalists announced in September, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Doug Otto congratulates 145 seniors who have been named National Merit "Commended" students, "Achievement Scholars" (African-American students) and "Hispanic Recognition" honor students.
Texas School Bus Safety Contest Awards
Two Plano ISD elementary school students will help Governor Rick Perry kick off Texas School Bus Safety Week at an October 20 ceremony in Austin, as a result of capturing second place awards in the state school bus safety poster contest.
'Plaza Comunitaria' Enrolls 450 Students
Plano ISD's Department of Family Education and Guidance Services has launched the "Plaza Comunitaria de Plano," enrolling 450 adult students who will attend evening classes provided in their native language to achieve elementary, middle and high school credits and diplomas.
