STEM Inductee   Plano Teachers Named STEM Fellows

Plano ISD Teachers Michele Poovey and Stephanie Schinnerer were inducted into the Texas Instruments Foundation Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Academy as fellows on August 26. The award recognizes local educators who improve student achievement in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. READ

Heritage Farmstead tour   Docents Needed for Museum Field Trips

Plano ISD invites the community to apply for fun and unique opportunities to learn about Plano area history by becoming a docent for third- and fourth-grade student field trips to the Heritage Farmstead Museum and Interurban Railway Museum. READ

Home Page   Website Update & Facebook Debut

Plano ISD's website at www.pisd.edu received a face lift this week. The new home page design provides more top news stories at-a-glance and a fresh new look. While visiting the home page, patrons are invited to sign up as "fans" of the school district on Facebook. Plano ISD's presence on Facebook also debuted this week and features exclusive news and multimedia reports from the district and schools.

School Board Update

September 1 Meeting - School trustees will conduct their regular meeting on Tuesday, September 1, at the Plano ISD Administration Building, 2700 W. 15th Street in Plano. The agenda, with links to supporting documents, is posted on BoardBook and includes:

  • Recognition of Staff for Life Saving Measures;
  • Consent Agenda, including several routine business items, district committee appointments and adoption of a revisied student code of conduct;
  • Resolution Authorizing Tax Rate for 2009-10;
  • DBIC Improvement Plan Goals for 2009-10;
  • Proposed District Initiatives for 2009-10; and
  • Adoption of seven state and district policies.
