Plano ISD Schools and Departments Celebrate
Volunteerism and Community Service on Sept. 11
Plano schools are embracing “A Call to Action” as the district celebrates the first annual observance of the National Day of Service and Remembrance on Friday, September 11. On this day, which was established by the U.S. Congress, all campuses and departments are engaging in activities that embrace volunteerism and community service. Projects will include blood drives, food and clothing drives, supply drives, card and letter campaigns and student-made gifts for various organizations. College Nights September 14 & 15
More than 200 colleges and universities will be on hand to talk to Plano ISD students and parents at College Nights to be held September 14 & 15 at Plano West Senior High School and Plano Senior High School, respectively. All families are invited.
Educator Grant Applications Due Sept. 23
The Plano ISD Education Foundation is accepting applications through September 23 for its 2009 Grants to Educators program. Grants fund initiatives that support the district's major goal to enhance student learning, with emphasis on college readiness.
2008-09 Plano ISD Sports Year-in-Review
All three senior high schools captured sport state awards during the 2008-09 school year. In addition to earning the state championship, the Plano Senior High School Boys Soccer Team boasted the Gatorade National Boys Soccer Player of the Year Dillon Powers.
