College-Readiness Indicators Show Exceptional Quality of Plano ISD's Preparatory Programs
Plano ISD students' SAT and ACT scores increased again this year and continue to far exceed state and national averages. New Federal Guidelines Require
Ethnicity and Race Re-Identification
New guidelines from the U.S. Department of Education require that all education institutions re-identify the ethnicity and race of all students. This new standard for collecting and reporting data is designed to provide a more accurate picture of the nation’s ethnic and racial diversity. For parents' convenience, Plano ISD provides the following electronic forms. A separate form must be completed for each student. Feeder School Alignment Committee Appointed - Public Hearings Scheduled
Resulting from its work session on September 15, the Plano ISD Board of Trustees appointed a committee and established a process to realign the school district’s three senior high school feeder patterns. The Feeder School Alignment Committee will base its work on the recommendations of the 2002 Blue Ribbon Boundary Committee. The group will also make recommendations for the new Otto Middle School and McMillen High School. Three public hearings will be held in October so that the committee may receive input into the process. Ninety Seniors Named Semifinalists
in National Merit Scholarship Program
Plano ISD joins the National Merit Scholarship Corporation in congratulating 90 seniors who have earned Semifinalist standing in the 2010 National Merit Scholarship Program. These students are among 16,000 academically talented high school seniors who have the opportunity to continue in the competition for $36 million in scholarships.
Celebrate Freedom Week
September 14-18 is "Celebrate Freedom Week" in Plano ISD. This special event has been designed to educate students about the sacrifices made for freedom in the founding of the United States. To accompany this special event, Plano ISD produced a video in which students explain the Constitution. Enjoy this patriotic presentation (Length: 5:20).

post-secondary readiness report, and;
social media communications plan.
