Plano Council of PTAs Invites Community to Drug Prevention & Awareness Program

 

The Plano ISD Council of PTAs invites parents to attend a community drug prevention and awareness program at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 10, at the Plano ISD Administration Building, 2700 W. 15th Street. Speakers will include Senator Florence Shapiro, the Plano Police Narcotics Unit and a local pharmacist. View flyer

Students Celebrate National Red Ribbon Week
with Pledges to Live Healthy, Drug-Free Lives


Students signing red ribbonsPlano ISD's 55,000 students, faculty, staff and PTA throughout our 70 schools celebrated National Red Ribbon Week with theme dress days, assemblies and lessons focused on living healthy, drug-free lives. Schools "teamed up" against drugs, with students and staff wearing favorite sports team shirts. "We may be crazy, but we don't do drugs" was a common theme, finding students and staff in crazy hairdos. Read reports and view photos from our schools. read

Rasor Elementary Students to Exchange 'Talking Murals' with Schools in Uganda

Students at Rasor Elementary School have participated in creating murals to exchange with students in Uganda through the "Let Art Talk" project. Their art teacher Becca Schaefer will travel to Uganda next month to create murals with and provide workshops for Ugandan families. read

Otto Middle School Dedication Nov. 15

The Plano ISD Board of Trustees invites the community to attend the dedication ceremony for Douglas Otto Middle School, named in honor of current Superintendent of Schools Dr. Douglas Otto. The event will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 15, at the school, which is located at 504 North Star Road in Plano. View the dedication invitation for parking information and a map.

Feeder School Transition Update

With the opening of Otto Middle School in 2010 and McMillen High School in 2011, the school board adopted a feeder school transition plan for the district. Students now in grades 9-12 will continue in their current feeder pattern. Feeder school transition summaries for Schimelpfenig Middle School and Clark and Jasper high schools are posted online. read

The school board will meet next in a work session to be held on Tuesday, November 16, at 6:00 p.m. at the Plano ISD Sockwell Center, 6301 Chapel Hill Boulevard in Plano.
