April 30 Thrill of the Grill 5K to Benefit Students and Teachers Through Plano ISD Education Foundation

Weather forecast for the Saturday, April 30, Central Market Thrill of the Grill 5K looks ideal, with a morning high of 68 degrees by the 9 a.m. race start. French toast casserole will be perfectly yummy for the post race celebration with live music by The Rumble Kings. Approximately 1,400 friends of the Plano ISD Education Foundation have registered for the third annual event. Proceeds will support students and teachers through the Foundation. Check out the Thrill of the Grill website for details about the event and to view photos from 2010. Register in person at the event on April 30 to participate in this popular, fun and healthy way to spend the day.

		PWSH Music Captures GRAMMY Award The Plano West Senior High School Music Department has been selected as a 2011 GRAMMY Signature School and one of only seven "Gold" level award recipients. The award recognizes top U.S. public high schools that are making an outstanding commitment to music education.

		'$60 Million Reasons to Give' Campaign The Plano ISD Education Foundation launched a "$60 Million Reasons to Give" campaign this spring to help Plano ISD, which is facing a $60 million budget shortfall over the next biennium. The Foundation announced this week that it is half way toward reaching its $60,000 goal for the campaign.

		May 2-10: Board Election Early Voting Early voting in Plano ISD's May 14 School Board Election will be held from May 2-10. View a video of the school board candidate forum hosted by the Key Communicators and Council of PTAs held on April 14, and read more about the election online.

		Principals' Association Golf Tournament The Plano Principals' Association will host its annual golf tournament fundraiser on June 29 at Ridgeview Ranch Golf Club to support scholarships for students and para-professionals and donations to local charities. May 3 Work Session ~ Trustees will meet in a work session at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 3, at the Sockwell Center to hear and discuss a budget report. The agenda, with links to supporting documents, is posted on BoardBook.
