Eighty-seven Seniors Named Semifinalists
in 2011 National Merit Scholarship Program
Plano ISD joins with the National Merit Scholarship Corporation in recognizing 87 seniors from Plano East Senior High School, Plano Senior High School and Plano West Senior High School who have been awarded National Merit Semifinalist standing. The students are among 16,000 academically talented seniors who have an opportunity to continue in the competition for 8,400 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $36 million to be awarded next spring.
A record 14 Plano ISD schools made the Texas Business & Education Coalition's (TBEC) Honor Roll for 2010. The award is presented to schools demonstrating consistent high performance compared to schools serving similar student populations.
Art Teacher Earns National Award

2010 Holiday Art Contest Underway
"Illuminating the Season" is the theme for the 2010 Plano ISD Holiday Greeting Card Art Contest, sponsored by Webb & Webb attorneys and the Plano ISD Education Foundation. All students are invited to enter the contest. Four finalists and a winner will be selected from among the entries and will receive award certificates and U.S. Savings Bonds.
Meet Security Director Joe Parks
Retired Plano Police Lieutenant Joe Parks is Plano ISD's new director of security police services and student safety. He brings more than 22 years of experience in law enforcement and public safety to Plano schools.
