All
Schools Meet 'No Child Left Behind' Adequate Yearly
Progress
March 3, 2005
All Plano ISD schools serving grades 3-10 met 2004 AYP (Adequate
Yearly Progress). Meeting AYP requires achieving federal
standards in the categories of participation and performance
on our state reading and mathematics tests as well
as achieving a high rate of student attendance.
Schools meeting AYP standards must do so in 30 academic indicators,
which include participation and performance indicators
for all student populations. Every campus met all 30
indicators and the district met all 30 indicators.
“Meeting all indicators on the AYP means that Plano ISD is
educating all students in compliance with federal guidelines,
regardless of the student’s ethnicity, socioeconomic background
and/or English proficiency,” noted James Ashby, director of
assessment and accountability.
In its second year of implementation, the federal AYP report represents
more rigorous performance standards than the 2003 AYP.
