Athletics Department Hosts
'Hall of Honor' Dinner Fundraiser

Plano ISD State Championship Football CoachesThe Plano ISD Athletic Department hosted its 2nd Annual “Hall of Honor” Dinner and Golf Tournament this week. The Hall of Honor dinner was held on Sunday, April 24, at the Sockwell Center, followed the next day by the golf tournament at The Hills of Prestonwood in Plano. The tournament fundraiser helped the athletic department offset new financial challenges caused by the impact of the state school finance situation, including student participation fees, facility upgrades and general needs.

Sponsors for the dinner included Shady Oak Barbecue, Ken Bigger, Pat Thomas, John Muns, Johnnie Robinson, Keith Sockwell and TGH Companies, Inc.

Sponsors for the golf tournament were Legacy Bank, Frisco RoughRiders, Dynamist, Presbyterian Hospital of Plano, Middlekauff Ford, Summit Alliance, Dr Pepper/7Up Bottlers, Abuelo's Mexican, Food Embassy, Two Rows Classic Grill, Profit Plus, Office Depot, C & C Trophy, John Muns and Artistic Textile Graphics.

Hall of Honor Inductees

Inducted into the Hall of Honor on Sunday evening are Roy Lamb, Billy Ray Smith and Pat Thomas, with special recognition to the 1965 State Championship Plano Wildcats Football Team.

  • football and basketball coach at Douglass High School
  • coached or taught at Cox Junior High, Bowman Middle School and PSHS

  • offensive/defensive lineman
  • played on 1977 state champion team
  • All-American at University of Arkansas
