Hi -TECCC Coalition Provides College Internship for Students

March 21, 2005

In one of their first major actions, members of the High-Technology Education Coalition of Collin County (Hi-TECCC) announced this week that 15 students have been selected to serve an internship on the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) campus this summer.

The honorees, all Plano ISD high school students, were announced at the district’s annual secondary science fair held on March 16 at Plano Centre. Congratulations to the following students.

  • Christina Mosher and Thien-an Ngoc Nguyen – Vines High School
  • Frank An, Johnathan Rose and Stephanie Weng – Plano Senior High School
  • Ashley Hudson, Meha Goyal and Mimi Lu – Clark High School
    Priyanka Hooghan – Williams
  • Parastou Fatemi - Plano East Senior High School
  • Sunshin Zhou, Shelby Iype and Jack Wang – Jasper High School
  • Ryan Lee and Qishen Chang – Plano West Senior High School

This summer, the students will work side-by-side with university professors, Ph.D. candidates, graduates and undergraduates and will receive overviews on a wide-range of ongoing research endeavors. “This internship program is the kind of opportunity that Hi-TECCC dreamed of and is now delivering,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Doug Otto. “Plano ISD is fortunate to serve as a national model for the way industry and educational institutions can partner.”

The members of Hi-TECCC are Plano ISD, Collin County Community College District and the University of Texas at Dallas with an advisory committee of industry leaders from Lockheed Martin, Nortel Networks, Raytheon and Texas Instruments.
