Plano Students Earn Impressive Secondary Science Fair Awards

March 18, 2005

Congratulations to the winners of the Plano ISD Secondary District Science Fair held on March 16 at Plano Centre and at the 48th Annual "Dallas Morning News"-Toyota Regional Science Fair held March 19 in Dallas.

State Science & Engineering Fair

April 8, 2005 - Congratulations to students participating in the Texas State Science and Engineering Fair held in San Antonio on April 2. The students (pictured below at the fair) did extremely well, with 21 students receiving awards after competing against students from across the state. Congratulations to Gabriel Ha from Jasper High School who placed in a top honor as a Grand Prize Finalist in the senior division.

Dallas Morning News-Toytota
Regional Secondary Science Fair

Congratulations to the seventh through 12th grade students who placed at the Dallas Morning News-Toyota Regional Science Fair. The fair was held Saturday March 19 at Fair Park.

Plano students were awarded three of four Grand Prize awards in the Junior Division and all four Grand Prizes at the Senior Division. Many students from all secondary campuses won Special Awards and Honorable Mentions.

Because of the outstanding showing for 1st - 3rd place, 66 students qualify to attend The Exxon Mobil State Science Fair to be held in San Antonio March 31-April 2.

The senior Grand Prize winners will attend the International Science and Engineering Fair in May to compete with more than 50 nations. Also to attend the International Fair are the first place winners in the "team" category.

Secondary District Science Fair

From the approximately 300 fair entries in the Plano ISD Secondary District Science Fair held in March, students captured numerous awards, including grand prize, first, second and third place and honorable mention awards.

"The judges enthusiastically expressed to me that the projects were excellent and the behavior of the students exemplary," noted Linda Flack, secondary science coordinator. "Students will be attending the Dallas Morning News Toyota Regional Science Fair March 18 weekend. District science fair awards lists follow.
