Student Art Recognized Locally, in State Governor's Office & Via National Contest

April 6, 2006

The work of several Plano ISD student artists has been selected for display both locally and on a state level. Artwork produced by our students has been selected by the Texas Governor for exhibit in her office. In addition, several students had their artwork exhibited in the AP/IB Art Exhibit at the Plano Art Gallery in March.

National Arts Advancement Awards

Megan Seymour's ArtSenior high school art students Irina Dukhnevich and Kate Wignall of Plano East and Megan Seymour of Plano West were recognized on a national level for their outstanding artwork. The three girls were selected as merit award winners in National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts "2006 ARTS" competition. Selected from more than 6,500 participants and placed in the top 10% of the national visual arts pool, they each received letters of congratulation and a $100 check. Their artwork is posted below.
